The best ideas are never yours. Or if they are, not for long.

Ever since I started in advertising in my little college in Cornwall, I have believed that I am being bugged. I don't know where they hide these little microphones. All I know is that ideas I have some how end up in other people's hands for different brands.

Last week there was a little banner I noticed for a mobile phone with the strapline 'see beauty in the detail'. The image was a kaleidoscope of the parts of the phone. I almost fell off my chair as we had tried to sell that stapline and visual (unsuccessfully) to BlackBerry years ago. Today we have Marmite. I am a big fan of the Marmite campaign. You either love it or you hate it is so true! (Personally I love it) Now they have this clever and relevant campaign where they have set up political parties for hater and lovers. Here, take a look:

The only thing that gets my goat is that my Creative partner and I had the exact same idea for a Cottage Cheese brand two years ago. There was no money of course, it was an unrecognizable brand and even when we came up with it we thought - if only we were advertising Marmite. In the end we had a poster in Tesco magazine and a TV ad which only ran on the screens at the Good Food Show in Birmingham.

Wanna see? No? Here it is anyway...if I find the video file I'll post that too:

Thanks girl26! I was very proud to be the only advertiser who had made cottage cheese slightly sinister!
