Burberry 3D

Following on from the last post - Tomorrow Burberry will stream its fall/winter 2010 womenswear catwalk  show to around the world live and in 3D! Advertising 3D? No need - just create the content!
Burberry's chief creative officer Christopher Bailey said:

""3D technology will bring our global audience into the London show space allowing them to see the colours and fabrics, to hear the music and to be a part of that moment when it all finally comes together.''

And here are some pictures of the event itself streamed live from London Fashion week at the Chelsea College of Art.

Advertising new technology with old

This little film was Disney's attempt to sell colour TVs to the American Black and White Tv owner. A pretty hard sell when in black and white non of the colours can be seen. As someone in my new office pointed out - the same challenge is going to present itself when channels attempt to sell 3d technology to us all.

I am the mother to a white iphone.

Last weekend Fiance and I said goodbye to our BlackBerry and Sony Ericson phones and upgraded to iPhones. I even managed to keep my lovely number that I've had since I was 18. I now need to figure out if there's a application for blogger.

Apps that I have downloaded so far include 'toilet finder'. How brilliant. No more Mcpisses or angry pub landlords demanding charitarble donations to their coffers in return for a pee.

Any apps you can recommend?

In other news my period of unemployment (2 weeks) is ending and I am doing some freelance work for a agency with a VIP client. OoooooH.

And it's my engagement party tonight. I have been obsessively sorting out my flat to make it ready for my guests for two days. This for some reason inolved getting all my shoes re-heeled, every broken pair of jeans or top fixed, lots of dry cleaning, taking things to the charity shop and throwing things out from the desk. I don't really think my guests are going to be looking in my desk draws or wardrobe but it's nice to feel like everything is sorted. I'm ready for anything.

You've got to fight for this sausage roll!

People, I just want to make this clear: I love Cheryl. What girl doesn't? She cries on X Factor, she stands up to Simon Cowell, she has nice hair and even nicer clothes. Pity about the hubby but hey ho. But who wouldn't want to join this silly group 'Can This Sausage roll get more friends that Cheryl Cole?' . Here's the link:

Just like the campaign for Rage Against the Machine it is another example of the public getting it own on the pop machine. Whether you agree that someone needs to take people like Cheryl down a peg or to (via sausage roll-dom)or not you have got to admire anyone who sets up such a viral group.

And now they've even got their own anthum, inspired by Cheryl's lovely number one - 'Fight for this Love'. So it's sausage roll versus Cheryl. Who gets your vote?

My new literature blog

If anyone fancies settling down with a good book this February they might want to check out my new book review blog:

http://aimeesbookshelf.blogspot.com/

I will be reviewing every new book I read here so that you only need read the good ones. I am a bit of a literature-addict. I studied English at University and had an English teacher as a father. So I think I'm probably a pretty good judge. If you have any books you'd like to recommend, please leave me a comment.

Power to the people

For the last few days I have been thinking about social media and whether it's merely a passing fad for all those who are self-obsessed, or whether it's a powerful medium of change which is playing a huge part in society's progression.

On the one hand you have the fact that a lot of work places have simply banned Twitter and Facebook. They don't want their employees getting distracted nor do they want their workers slagging them off or revealing their secrets to the world.

On the other hand you have alot of companies who see it as the most important way of contacting their client base, actually employing people to sit on Twitter all day and pretend they are a meercat. (I'm sorry people but Aleksandr isn't real. He is probably played by a Copywriter).

I'd say that Twitter will not be on everyone's lips after this year is up. Its time will pass. But it will only do so when something better and shinier comes along. For the moment brands had better use it to their full advantage. Using it half heartedly without really understanding its potential or its unwritten rules can be hugely damaging. Who didn't hate Habitat when it spammed us all, even jumping on the back of the Iranian election. I can only forgive them because their plates are so pretty.

Olympics to be proud of

After the disasterous unveiling of the Olympic Logo for London 2012 Britain has proved that they can at least do something right with this lovely animation for the Vancouver Winter Olympics on the BBC- thanks to RKCR/Y&R.

The spot continues on from the style of the advert for the Beijing Olympics which almost looks like it's an advert for the Gorillaz new single being animated by Jamie Hewlett. So, on the bright side, we may not do Olympic logos well, but we sure as hell can do nice adverts. Or is the difference here that one was commissioned by a creative and savvy BBC, the other by some stupid politician?
